Current activities

These are the consultancy, research, evaluation, writing activities I’m doing at the moment.

Oxford Brookes University

I am an affiliate consultant at Oxford Brookes, undertaking occasional professional development workshops on their behalf. So far these have included a day workshop on Digital Scholarship at Buckinghamshire University, and a workshop on Technology-Enhanced Learning at Cardiff. Evaluation responses on these rate me as somewhere between very good and outstanding – commenting mainly on my ability to respond to the specific needs of delegates, and so ensuring adaptive and participative sessions. From 2017 on.

Humanitarian Leadership Academy

With another consultant I am co-ordinating the creation of an online course to support the wellness and resilience of humanitarian aid workers. This requires leading a remote team of representatives of various NGOs in the sector to design a curriculum and identify the sources for the content. This section has now been completed, and the next task is for us to liaise with a learning designer to build the course. From 2016 on.

Tablet Academy

The Tablet Academy  http://www.tablet-academy.com/ supports schools and colleges globally with introducing mobile learning and devices to the curriculum. A team of consultants promote the training and development of teachers in a wide variety of programmes. My role is to lead on the evaluation of the impact of this learning. The main studies so far have been on the interventions led by the Tablet Academy at Derby College, the Tablet Academy’s work with Specsavers on eyesight testing of schoolchildren using mobile devices and the implementation of a social media platform, Loopd Life, for use in education. From 2014 on
